Kurt Jackson – more than slightly mind blowing inspiration
Thanks to Drawing allowed I was introduced to the work of Kurt Jackson. Sometimes it seems that there is no chance for the new or fresh but then you stumble on something again that leaves a deep impression and makes for a source of inspiration. I have never seen someone treating acrylic colors so sensitive, also I find it absolutely inspiring to see that a small format can be really big.

I’ve followed his work for years and get to his exhibitions when I can.
I love his enquiring mind, the way he doesn’t fall into a ‘style’ and churn out the same old thing because it sells. And his work ethic is mind blowing! And those lovely free marks :>) with underlying keen observation.
The new book out of his sketchbooks is well worth buying. A really interesting read as well as full of great sketches – with an insight into materials and processes that you don’t normally get, with his work simply labelled ‘mixed media’.
